My Website... My Design

The dilemma that surrounds every designer on the face of earth is to go by their gut or follow instructions. Creativity, they say... cannot be forceful or caged but the thread of every profession is somewhere down the line connected to monetary aspects and approvals.

As a designer is it essential to the find the right balance between what is required and what can be value added to the design. Website Designing is a domain where there are infinite possibilities for creativity and innovation. The domain is growing at fast pace and welcoming new aspects with positivity and encouragement.

For a designer, the goal is to create a website layout that meets the purpose of the business and sets the benchmark higher for contemporaries and this can be achieved by immersing into the depth of the project. Designing is not confined to the color of buttons and curvy edges of banners... it has more to it:
  •  Understanding the audience and what they will come looking for
  •  Understanding the company/ institution and devising the best possible way to navigate across their offerings
  •  Identifying the strengths of the company/ institution and how those can be highlighted
  • Identifying functionalists that can reduce the no. of clicks required to reach to desired pages
When you start designing the homepage of a Corporate Website, the focus must be on how the company can be presented well and company information can be showcased but in case of a Flash Website, the approach is entirely different. The focus will then be at making the website visually appealing to hold the attention of the visitor, interesting transitions, limited text etc. So the design parameters change depending on the type of website being worked upon. What does not change is the creative zeal of a true web designer.

So the next time you are in a fix! Follow your instincts and create what you would approve!
